![]() ![]() In this review, we hypothesize that the combination of an optimized biological treatment together with radiolabeled antibodies and chemotherapy early in the disease course of advanced-stage follicular lymphoma may represent the best approach to achieve prolonged disease-free survival and eventually cure. Unlabeled antibody treatment could potentially benefit from the combination of antibodies directed against different target antigens or combination therapy with cytokines capable of further mobilizing patients' cellular defenses. ![]() Repeat administrations of RIT using appropriate radioisotopes for treatment of residual disease or new targeting strategies might afford additional benefits. Despite the therapeutic efficacy of both approaches, the potential exists to further improve both modalities. Rituximab and RIT have clearly distinct mechanisms of action, the first acting exclusively as a biological treatment, while the second acts by a combination of biologic mechanisms and radiation effects. Multiple studies have also shown the efficacy of radioimmunotherapy (RIT) both as a single agent and in combination with chemotherapy. Rituximab has been introduced in various combinations with chemotherapy and has resulted in a significantly superior treatment outcome compared with chemotherapy alone. assumes no liability for inaccuracies or misstatements about products. After completing this course, the reader will be able to: Summarize current upfront treatment options in follicular lymphoma.Differentiate biological treatment options with demonstrated efficacy from promising new developments in research and clinical trials.Better understand RIT and its therapeutic promise.ĬME This article is available for continuing medical education credit at Īdvanced-stage follicular lymphoma is incurable by conventional treatment. We will definitely be buying them again for cold season when we run out.ĭisclaimer: While we work to ensure that product information is correct, on occasion manufacturers may alter their ingredient lists. However, they’ve helped us SO MUCH with making our colds less severe and shorter, so I am very glad we made this mistake. These are mainly for use when needed only, like when you feel a cold coming on. We had apparently bought a different NOW product but confused the two. When we originally decided to try these, we had thought they were the same as the 60 Count version of vitamin C and Elderberry we bought before for use as a daily supplement. This can be a challenge but is what helps it work so well for colds and such. The lozenge size is very large and you are not supposed to chew it but let it slowly dissolve. The taste is not great but you get used to it. I will warn you, if you take two doses too close together it can cause gastrointestinal symptoms, so beware of that. ![]() I’m fighting a cold now and amazed at how I feel. Doing so has drastically reduced our cold symptoms when taken at the first symptom (that scratchy throat that comes for instance). UPDATE: I’m changing my review because we started using these 1-2x/day when we feel a cold coming on or someone else in the family is sick. ![]()
